10 year effort to showcase the CCC becomes a reality....thanks for passing the legacy      

The Massachusetts DCR has recently launched the CCC website.  As we refer more and more to the internet for learning and teaching, websites share information that would otherwise never be discovered.  Enjoy the Massachusetts CCC story by becoming a web visitor.  http://www.mass.gov/dcr/ccc/index.htm.

Massachusetts will celebrate the 75th anniversary by hosting several events during the Anniversary year.  For more detailed information click on the link above.  

May 17 -Southeastern MA:  Myles Standish State Forest CCC & Park Serve Day Event, Fearing Pond, Plymouth.   www.friendsmssf.com 

May 31 - Western MA:  CCC Day Event Wendell State Forest 10:00am - 3:00pm  A park program exploring the life and times of the CCC.

October 11: Central MA:  CCC Day Celebration, Upton State Forest.

State of Massachusetts Honors CCC Day - 2007

The Massachusetts State house was buzzing with activity in honor of the men of the Civilian Conservation Corps.    Governor Deval Patrick issued the annual proclamation recognizing March 31 as a CCC Day of recognition.  

Francis Derwin, NACCCA Board-Northeast Region Director,  and his CCC colleagues have nurtured a sound working relationship with the State of Massachusetts  and continue to bring attention to the CCC.

In July 2002, the Massachusetts legislature enacted Chapter 154, of the Acts of 2002 which states:  

"The governor shall annually issue a proclamation setting apart March 31 as Civilian Conservation Corps Day, in recognition of the contribution of its 100,000 members who helped to build roads, construct bridges and towers and preserve our nation's land during the period from 1933 to 1942, and recommending that said day be observed in an appropriate manner by the people."
